Scout Troop 87's Alec Law reports from the 2010 National Scout Jamboree in Fort AP Hill, Virginia
July 29, 2010
Our Jamboree trip began at the Amarillo airport, flying first to Denver then on To Washington DC to tour the Capital for two days. On Monday we arrived at Fort AP Hill for the start of the Jamboree. There are over 40,000 Boy Scouts from all over the world here in Virginia. Our troop set up our campsite and gateway it was hot!
There is a lot to do here, we walk a lot! There is a merit badge midway with all of the 121 merit badges, shotgun shooting, boating, scuba. I don't think I can get it all done.
The opening arena show was cool. Seeing all of those scouts in one place was amazing. We walked for two hours to get to the arena there were so many people. There were F-15 flyovers, parachutist, Miss America and Sgt. Slaughter from the WWE.
I have been so busy since arriving that I haven't had much time to write. I will try and send more postcards from the jamboree the next few days. We still have six days left. This place is amazing!
