Officer involved shooting at Amarillo nightclub

NewsChannel 10

Amarillo, Texas - The Amarillo Police Department is investigating an officer involved shooting early Thursday morning at the Sorority House nightclub.

Police say two officers, Michael Mogelinski and Anthony Kennedy were told of a fight that was going to occur at closing time at the bar.  When the officers arrived a large crowd exited the club and a fight broke out.  The officers used pepper spray to break up the crowd.

They say 17 year old Markeen Walker waved a gun at the officers and the officers fired seven shots, striking the suspect four times.  An ambulance was called for Walker.

After the crowd was broken up another man, 28 year old Christopher Bailey was found to be suffering a wound.  He was taken to the hospital.

Walker is in critical condition and Bailey is in critical but stable condition.

The incident is still being investigated.

We spoke with several neighbors and nearby business owners today who say there is trouble at the club frequently. One neighbor told us she is afraid for her children's lives because of the violence there. Since June 3, the APD has been called out to the Sorority House 20 times.
