New city buses with some new features

Amarillo, TX - The City of Amarillo and Amarillo City Transit have come together to help make a more bike friendly community. The city has purchased 19 new buses that are fully equipped with bike racks. Only 12 of the buses were in service today, and the others will soon hit the roads too.

The old city buses didn't allow bikes at all, but now every new bus has a bike rack on the front of the grill that will hold 2 bicycles at a time. It is simple to use and only takes 3 steps (see video for details)

"The racks are used for bike riders to get to 1 destination to another without going through traffic," says Brett Lawler, Fixed Route Supervisor, "It won't take bike riders as long anymore either to get to where they are going."
