PORTALES, NM - Homicide detectives are investigating the shooting death of an Eastern New Mexico University junior. According to police, 22 year-old Angel Vale was found dead outside her home in the 1200 block of North Avenue A, Thursday evening.  She had suffered a gun shot wound to the head. At this time, there are no suspects, and no arrests have been made.

Vale worked at Something Different Cafe on West 2nd Street. Investigators tell NewsChannel 10,  when she did not show up for work on time, her co-workers went looking for her. They found her about an hour later.  There was about a three hour window between the time Vale was last seen at her home to the time her body was discovered.

"We've secured the entire block as a crime scene, specifically because we found a few things in the alley area.  We have gone through and found evidence near other houses close by that we wanted to pick up as well." Said Lonnie Berry with the Portales Police Department.

Detectives have ruled out that Vale was killed by another ENMU student. Currently, they are in the interviewing process trying to narrow down leads. Vale lived in her home with her boyfriend.  He was at work when she was killed and has not been connected to her shooting. According to investigators, Vale had problems in their home, but would not specify what they were.  The couple was in the process of moving out.
