AMARILLO, TEXAS - Starting this week, new and expectant mothers from all over the world can call an Amarillo-based center for advice on certain health topics.

Expectant and breast feeding mothers now more than ever have some kind of health issue for which they are being treated.

Doctors say going untreated is more detrimental during pregnancy than being on medication, but mothers often are nervous about the medicine.

That is where the infant risk call center comes in.

Dr. Thomas Hale, who spearheaded this project, says, "we're getting emails from everyone in the country right now from all the excitement. It's rarely available in the united states. Most women don't know where to go for information."

But starting this week, the infant risk center at the Laura W. Bush Institute for Women's Health will be a wealth of information for curious mothers.

Dr. Hale says the database there is more vast than any other call center in the country.

He says there are not a lot of people in the country who know this information, which is why the database filled with hundreds of syndromes and medications will be the most helpful.
