Monsanto fine

Amarillo, TX - The world's largest seed company will pay $2.5 million to the Environmental Protection Agency for selling mislabeled bags of genetically engineered seed in the Texas Panhandle.

The EPA says the penalty is the largest fine ever imposed under a law that regulates pesticides and fungicides.

Parts of Texas have banned the seeds because they kill insects. Monsanto sold the cotton seeds in 10 area counties where the seeds are banned.
