1 Terry County Jail escapee in custody

BROWNFIELD, Texas (AP) _ Two inmates escaped from the Terry County Jail in Brownfield but one later surrendered.

Sheriff Larry Gilbreath said 23-year-old Cornelio Zepeda Delgado from Levelland returned to the jail early Tuesday. Gilbreath told The Associated Press that Delgado "just came walking in the lobby."

Thirty-five-year-old David Lee Rodriguez from Brownfield remains at large. The inmates early Monday went through an air conditioning vent, into a ceiling area and out through a plumbing closet.

Rodriguez was held since May 23 following a domestic disturbance in which a child was hurt. He was charged with attempted murder and assault causing bodily injury and is considered dangerous. Delgado was booked May 18 on charges of theft and failure to show identification.

Brownfield is 40 miles southwest of Lubbock.
