Amarillo, Texas - Frustrations are running high with many officers at the Amarillo Police Department.

We spoke with the President of the Amarillo Police Officers Association who says in his 28 years on the force, he's never seen officers this frustrated and stressed.

Those feelings are coming from three different places... A new computer system that's hard to figure out, a lack of manpower, and a new emergency dispatch method.

That new method involves several agencies.... Fire, ambulance and police... All receiving calls set into one set of dispatchers. The association says dispatchers don't always understand the specific needs of police officers.

Sgt. Steve Mitchell says, "Obtaining pertinent necessary, safety information has been a little bit slow or disjointed and that's caused the biggest concern among officers. If you get a call where a domestic disturbance where a gun in involved that's information we simply have to have before an officer gets on the scene."

Mitchell plans to talk to police department management about these issues tomorrow.
