24 hours in the Canyon

Canyon, TX - Palo Duro Canyon is filled with cyclists as we speak for the annual fundraiser, 24 hours in the Canyon.

Hundreds of bicyclists have hit the bike paths in hopes to raise money for local cancer research.

The heat is definitely having an impact on this year's fundraiser. With temperatures hovering around the 100 degree mark Saturday, participants are filling up on plenty of fluids to stay safe.

"...It's pretty brutal. It's awful warm. You just have to take a lap. Get some water in and then some Gatorade. Then debate on a second lap. Heck we might ride all night long instead of riding it in the heat."

Several filling stations are set up along the bike path to help keep riders hydrated with ice cold water and to offer small snacks.

Twenty four hours in the Canyon wraps up Sunday.  And if you do plan on going you are encouraged to bring along water, small snacks, sun screen, bug spray and a helmet.
