Former area fire chief could face prison if found guilty of embezzlement

A former area fire chief faces five years in prison if found guilty of embezzlement.

Optima's James C. Lackey bonded out of jail today on embezzlement charges.

Investigators claim in court documents that he used the volunteer fire departments money to pay his own bills.

They also write that Lackey had made an agreement with the city to pay them back but he never followed through.
