Amarillo, TX - Motorcycle accidents in our area have left 3 dead and 4 in the hospital - in just the past 8 days. Some say it's just like wearing a seat belt - however officials told NewsChannel 10 if you care about you're head then use it - by wearing a helmet.

38-year-old Anthony Paul Martinez who wasn't wearing a helmet is in critical condition after hitting a curb and being thrown from his motorcycle this past Saturday. Martinez nor the 6 other bikers who were injured in accidents this past week were wearing helmets either.

Sergeant Steve Davis says its becoming common for bikers in our area, and they are experiencing quite a few accidents where the biker is not wearing a helmet. A law passed last June states you must be 21 years old and have health insurance covering more than $50,000 to not wear a helmet.
