Boyfriend of Victim Speaks

Javier Zamora Javier Zamora

AMARILLO, TEXAS - The boyfriend of a woman killed at an Amarillo bar this weekend is speaking out for the first time about watching it all happen.

On Friday night the couple went out to Whiskey River to unwind after a long week, but their trip turned tragic.

"As we were leaving whiskey river, out of no where this white Durango just comes flying through the parking lot. like he didn't have a care in the world. I guess he felt invincible. Well he took the best thing that ever happened to me," Javier Zamora said.

On Friday night police say Gabriel Albert Gutierrez was driving drunk we he ran over Josie Johnson and hit three other people before trying to run away

"He took a mom, he took a sister, he took a daughter. he took a niece," Zamora said.

This horror came on the heels of a happy milestone for Javier and Josie. They had just moved in together after about six months of dating. Police arrested Gutierrez and charged him with intoxicated manslaughter - among other things. But Zamora says even if the driver is found guilty, it still won't make up for loosing Josie.

"Think twice man. before you get in your car and you know you've been drinking too much, think twice," he said.

To make this even worse, the family is having a hard time paying for her funeral and even a casket. There's been a fund set up at Wells Fargo Banks. And Wednesday night both Chili's locations will donate 10 percent of revenues to the family. That will run from 7 to 9 p.m.
