Woman Claims Sexual Assault

Amarillo, TX - Two Amarillo residents are under arrest this evening in connection with multiple sexual assaults on the same minor.

A 21 year old woman reportedly came to the Amarillo police early last month with accusations that she was sexually assaulted numerous times between the ages of 12 and 18.

A following investigation has led to the arrests of 56 year old Teddy Gene Acklin and 40 year old Angela Marie Oakes.

Both are charged on several counts of sexual assault of a child in Potter County. And more counts of indecency with a child by contact were also filed in Randall County.

District Attorney James Farren could not discuss the evidence involved in the case, however he did say both Oakes and Acklin will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

He also added that it is very common for a victim in this type of case to wait several years before coming forward with information. And that though a statute of limitations is not in place for sexual assault in Randall County, these cases are still extremely hard to prove.
