Amarillo, TX - Local support for the devastating floods to the southeast is now en route to Nashville.

The Texas Panhandle chapter of The American Red Cross has been working hard over the last week to aid those affected by deadly flood waters in Tennessee.

And now the relief effort is going above and beyond just money and supplies. Sarah Kealii, a local volunteer for The Red Cross boarded a flight this morning to Nashville. She is being deployed to assist with disaster health services in the devastated community.

She says her passion for volunteering comes from support she received during a disaster right here in the Texas Panhandle.

"It's to help our neighbors. You know we had our wildfires here and a lot of people came in here and helped us. My family was affected by the wildfires and this is just an opportunity to give back to my fellow human being."

Kealii has been with The Red Cross for only three months but in that time has already completed over 150 hours of intensive training.

Her most in depth training experience comes from responding to four single family fires here in the Amarillo area.
