SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) _ Portales and Tucumcari's MainStreet programs have been chosen to serve as models in creating a New Mexico MainStreet entrepreneur development initiative.
The state Economic Development Department says the initiative includes two years of technical assistance to help entrepreneurial growth.
New Mexico MainStreet's two-year assistance package will help the communities expand their role in supporting entrepreneurs and developing tools to create networking and partnership opportunities.
Portales and Tucumcari were selected from among 19 state-certified MainStreet communities competing for the development initiative.
The New Mexico MainStreet Program helps communities revitalize their traditional commercial neighborhoods.
