Texans No Longer Pay Highest Homeowners Insurance Rates

by: Kristen Guilfoos

Amarillo, Texas - Texans no longer hold the top spot when it comes to who pays the most in the nation for homeowners insurance. But if you think that means your rates are going down... Think again.

The reason we slipped from the top spot is not because we're paying less... It's because Floridians are now paying more.

After several years of devastating hurricanes, the Sunshine States costs vaulted over the Lone Star State's.

Texans pay an average of $1,400 a year... Floridians pay about $1,500. Both significantly lower than the national average of $822.
