Local Christmas Shopping Numbers

AMARILLO, TEXAS - Local retailers think recession recovery is on it's way to Amarillo --but it's not here just yet.

The National Retail Federation says this December seems to be - slightly better- than last year as unemployment goes back down and shoppers worries about loosing their jobs subside.

"Retailers are saying our numbers are up we're meeting our expectations in many cases beating out expectations for holiday shopping and it pretends a nice 2010," a spokesperson said.

However locally -- several store managers say that this December may be better than last -- but the year as a whole is still slightly down over last year and way down from 2007.
