Power Lines May Go Through Canyon

CANYON, TEXAS - You might call it a transmission line in the sand. One that local conservationists and landowners don't want crossed at Palo Duro Canyon.

The movement against these lines is growing fast - since December first - 179 people have signed the petition - bringing the total to just under a thousand.

The lines wouldn't actually go through the state park which takes up the bulk of the canyon, they would be just north across an eight-mile stretch of private property.

And wind energy developers say without them being built, our area will miss out on many new projects and hundreds of jobs.
