Amarillo, TX - After a dedication ceremony today the Tyler Street Resource Center in Amarillo is operating under a new name...and officials there say their demand has never been greater.

The center has been providing critical services since 1993 and today it was re-named the Guyon Saunders Resource Center in honor of a local man who dedicated his life to help those in need.

An average of 90 clients a day are in need of their facilities, a need that continues to grow.

"We've seen an increase in the last four year of 180 percent in homelessness in Amarillo and we have good statistics because at tyler street, that's what we do," said Board Vice President Joe Street.

Street says fifty-percent of the homeless they see are men and women aged 31 to 50 years old.
