TABC announces amnesty for underage drinkers

Newschannel 10

Amarillo, Texas - Underage drinkers who get ill and seek medical attention will no longer be cited for illegal possession or consumption.

The Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission says they will now offer an amnesty for minors if they seek emergency attention if necessary.

The changes come as the agency tries to decrease the number of alcohol poisonings among youth.

They also want to encourage minors to seek help if they've been raped or assaulted while intoxicated.
