Amarillo, TX-The weather didn't slow one man's mission to run across the country for a good cause.
Joe Fairchild began his trek in august, running along highways to raise money and awareness for multiple sclerosis.
As he crossed into Amarillo on Tuesday and reflected on the thousands of miles behind him.
Joe says, "they will say this is so cool what we are doing, you're so inspiring - but you inspire me and that's why I keep going. I've thought a lot of times about quitting, but its really no longer about me, its all those people that keep me going."
MS is a debilitating auto-immune disease that affects more than 20,000 people in Texas.
The society uses money raised to further research as well as assist those with the disease.
April Brownlee with the National MS Society, Panhandle office says, "people can get involved at any level, whether its stuffing envelopes in the office, walking in a walk or walking across the country. Every little bit helps.
To date, Joe has logged more than 23,000 miles and raised over 5,000 dollars.
