Santa's Flu Shots

Amarillo, TX - Santa Claus is taking the same precautions as many Americans this year to make sure he stays healthy during the holiday season. Kids were already waiting for him when Santa rode his sleigh into the Westgate Mall.

But before he dropped by he had to make a trip to the doctor.  Kari Holman the mall's marketing director says "They are required to get their flu shots and this year with the H1N1 they added that as a requirement.

Which is something that's giving parents peace of mind. "Oh yeah definitely it makes you feel better knowing that he's taken that precaution to keep us all well this year." says parent Lindsey Coleman.

And as a little added precaution this year there's been hand sanitizer added to the entrance, and the exit of the Santa Clause display. "It just kind of made sense to add it to the Santa set with the H1N1 and the flu season," Holman said.

So parents can feel a little better about letting Santa handle their children, and all the Elves can do their work in good health.  Because we all know they're working extra hard this time of year.
