Grupo Mexico again controls Asarco

Amarillo, Texas - The battle for control of Asarco has apparently ended but the United Steelworkers are not happy.

A Texas judge has approved Grupo Mexico's plan to regain control of the company.  Grupo Mexico has agreed to pay more than two-billion dollars to Asarco's creditors.

But the United Steelworkers union had already worked out an agreement with the rival company, Sterlite Industries.

The union represents more than 1,000 Asarco workers in Amarillo and Arizona.
