Amarillo, Texas - You may be giving away personal information about yourself and not even know you're doing it.
Many of us are probably hesitant to admit it, but chances are good if you're on Facebook you've taken one of those quizzes... Whether it's what your eye color says about you, which Simpsons character you're most like or even what super hero your dog most resembles.
But those quizzes are more than just a fun way to pass the time... They're a perfect place for hackers to steal your personal information.
And it doesn't take a lot of input from you for them to find out everything.
Angela Eilers with Digital Amarillo says, "You first and last name, few digits of your social security number, an address, a birth date. A lot of the games that are on there, type in your name. Your first middle and last name and your birthday so we can send you a birthday card. It's not to send you a birthday card.
Many times that information either ends up directly in the hands of a hacker or it's sold to a third party. In most cases, it's not Facebook itself that sponsors these quizzes... It's generally non-affiliated companies who publish content.
If you would like to see how much information you could unknowingly be sharing with strangers, the ACLU has, ironically, come up with a quiz of their own called "What Do Facebook Quizzes Know About You?".
You can access that quiz by clicking here...
