Amarillo, TX - It was an emotional day for many in our area today as we honor our nation's veterans. Its a day of not only remembrance, but also praise to those who have served.

"We need to honor our armed forces before a conflict during a conflict and after a conflict." said Pete Garcia, the President of the Texas Panhandle War Memorial.

Captain David Will was the honorary guest speaker at today's War Memorial ceremony. He knows the price of freedom first hand. "When you're given the opportunity to serve this nation and protect it it really is a privilege. And most people need to understand that's the way we feel."

Veterans know that our flag is more then just a symbol.  "It represents everything our country's ever been. Is now and will be in the future." Captain Will says.

The Ussery-Roan Texas State Veteran's Home also hosted an event today. The Tascosa High ROTC presented the colors before a ceremony to honor veterans for their Sacrifice. Serving as a reminder that our freedom comes at the cost of many Americans..past..present..and future.
