Amarillo, Texas - $315,000 dollars is granted to the City of Amarillo to help with medical screenings for refugees in our area.

The grant was approved by Amarillo city commissioners Tuesday afternoon for the Amarillo Department of Public Health to provide initial health screenings for refugees who relocate to the Amarillo area.

Last year, the grant provided services to 500 refugees, and this year, that number has doubled to 1,000 refugees.  The money comes from the Texas Department of State Health Services.
