Amarillo, TX - The U.S. Supreme Court has refused to hear the appeal of an Amarillo man sentenced to death.

John Lezell Balentine was convicted of murdering three teenagers while they were sleeping back in 1998. A federal appeals court halted his execution in September, just one day before he was scheduled to die.

District Attorney Randall Sims says if the defense takes no further action in the next 30 days then the process of setting another execution date will begin.
