Amarillo, TX - Child pornographers and other computer criminals may soon be arrested sooner, thanks to a new plan by the DPS. On top of hiring new specialists, they will buy new work stations. DPS will also now only look at a hard drive until finding some evidence.

If they find something, police will be notified to make an arrest before searching the entire computer. Something that could take anywhere from four to seven months.

Potter County District Attorney Randall Sims says this may slow down things on his end. "Where I see a potential issue could be in regards to viewing the rest of the hard drive. And when they're going to continue to do that could eventually slow down the criminal justice process because we're going to want to know everything we can."

DPS officials say they will still do a full hard drive search whenever the law needs it.
