Amarillo, Texas - Afghanistan-born author Khaled Hosseini will be speaking at West Texas A&M Thursday night. Hosseini is the author of the hugely successful, "The Kite Runner", which was made into a film. The book is about the struggles of the Afghan people.

Hosseini says, "The last few years there has been a steady trajectory of declining legitimacy for the government, declining popularity. And that regime has struggled providing the people with basic services, protecting them, and things of that nature. So there is, I think, genuine concern on the part of the people when it comes to the Afghan government."

Hosseini will speak at WT At Five Thursday night at the First United Bank Center.

The event is free and open to the public.
