CANYON, TEXAS - A new program at West Texas A&M is bringing world-wide attention to our region for something the panhandle's never been known for until now. Since starting in 2005, WT's engineering program has taken off -- fast.

They started out with just 58 students, and this fall, they're up more than three hundred and thirty percent to 250 students majoring in the field.

And those students aren't just coming from the panhandle. The program is attracting people from across the entire globe --- many of whom will end up creating a qualified workforce right here in Texas. Because of the intense showing of interest, WT hopes to continue to expand their engineering program.

They're in the works to add a civil engineering major right now to the current list.
