AMARILLO, TEXAS - The 15-year-old girl suspected of suffocating her newborn could be tried as an adult. Prosecuting attorneys say they are strongly considering that option.

It all started on thursday when a tip from the emergency room led to a house in the 4200 block of West 11th. There investigators found the body of a newborn baby boy who had been suffocated to death.

Police have always considered the 15-year-old mother the lead suspect.

The hospital says she denied ever being pregnant and neighbors say to their knowledge she never told her guardians she was pregnant.

The girl was arrested after she got out of the hospital for treatment.  She will now undergo a series of psychological tests before prosecutors make the decision to try her as an adult or juvenile.

In the meantime police will continue their investigation. At this point they have not ruled out other suspects in this case.
