Amarillo, Texas -  Pantex employees now have the option of voluntarily leaving the facility with a severance package to help the company save money.

Workers were told Thursday they may choose to leave now and get severance pay, medical benefits and help from panhandle work source.

A Pantex spokesperson says they expected the budget shortfall, which is the reason for the voluntary program, but do not expect any layoffs.

Applications for the program are due by October 15th.
