Levi King murder trial: defense paints picture of bad home life

Lubbock, TX - Levi King's defense team took an active role for the first time in the punishment phase of his capital murder trial.

His attorney's cross-examined witnesses and showed those witnesses and the jury several photos of King's childhood home. It's a place they say is so horrendous it made him into the man he is today. They say it's falling apart and a place where King was introduced to drugs at a young age.

The prosecution tried to poke holes in that defense by calling a witness to the stand who says he's been to the house and he does not remember it being that bad. He said he does not recall seeing things like knives sticking out of the wall or bottles filled with urine on the front porch - all things the defense maintains exist.
