Pfizer settlement brings $55M to Texas

Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott and other states' attorneys general have ended a lengthy Medicaid fraud investigation into drug manufacturer Pfizer.

As a result, more than one billion dollars has been recovered for state Medicaid programs and several federal programs.

Investigators say the drug maker deceptively marketed 13 pharmaceutical products, including the pain reliever Bextra.

In addition to the settlement, Pfizer will pay a one point two billion dollar criminal fine. Texas' Medicaid program will recover 55 million dollars.
