Tulia, TX -  - The flames are out in Tulia where a fire destroyed two buildings and caused severe damage to three other businesses.

All that is left of the dollar General and Wilkerson building in Tulia is a pile of ruble and destruction, after a fire erupted in the back of the Dollar General store.

Witnesses say they heard several explosions just before ten this morning. Every business within a two block radius was evacuated. It took about two hours to put out the flames.

The district manager of the Dollar General estimates over one million dollars in damage to his store.

"We have substantial damage to the beauty shop next door and smoke damage to at least three other buildings. We had quite a few fire departments involved from Kress, Nazareth and Happy," says Mayor Pro-Tem Ross James.

The state fire marshall will begin a case investigation tomorrow morning.

This Dollar General was in the process of moving to its newest location on 2nd street in Tulia. It is unclear how that process will be affected.
