College Rankings Announced

The University of Texas and Texas A&M are just two of five schools awarded "A's" in a new college review by the American Council on Trustees and Alumni, ACTA.

West Point, University of Arkansas and City University of New York-Brooklyn College finish out the top schools.

In another review out today, Harvard and Princeton share the top spot for the annual university ranking for America's Best Colleges by US News and World Report.

The influential magazine named Williams College as the Top Liberal Arts school.

Dartmouth wins the top spot for a new category ranking commitment to undergraduate teaching.

The ranking is determined by SAT scores, peer reputation, selectivity, and alumni giving.

ACTA gave an "F"' to nine of the U.S. News and World Report's top 20 national universities, saying it found almost 90 percent of the leading schools fail to require a survey course in American government or history.
