City Commission to ask for Homeland Security Funds

Amarillo, Texas,  The City of Amarillo is asking for more than $500,000 from the Department of Homeland Security.

The City wants another robot for its bomb squad and money for technical training.  They also want to beef up the fire department's HAZMAT team and the Urban Search And Rescue Team.

Also some money is intended for the Department of Emergency Management.

The six resolutions the City Commission passed Tuesday are part of the fiscal year 2009 Homeland Security Grant.

Here's a breakdown of the money for which the city will apply:
