One local Friona woman is breathing new life into a building that once played a pivotal role in the XIT Ranch.
Donna Baker purchased the building back in 2005, and has spent the past four years restoring it.
It first served as a hotel used to house potential XIT Ranch land buyers, but since then it's been home to many Friona organizations.
Baker says, "It was the VFW Hall or headquarters, whatever you want to call it, for a while. Then it was different private offices.
The library was here at one point. Then it became an apartment building in the 1980s."
Baker grew up in Friona and says she's always admired the building. She currently lives on the top floor and runs a gift shop and art gallery on the main floor.
