The construction may be a tad behind schedule, but Friona officials say it's worth the wait... The new Parmer Medical Center will be just what the town needs.
Some say the $12 million project is a lifeline, of sorts, for the small farming community.
JB Douglas with the Friona EDC says, "it's just imperative that we have a hospital, along with an emergency room center if we're going to survive as a small community.
You know, so many small communities in the panhandle have gone by the wayside because they lost their medical facilities."
The new hospital will include an aquatic rehabilitation center, larger patient rooms, as well as an area where specialists can come in from other areas of the state to care for Parmer County residents.
The hospital is set to open this fall.
