Amarillo, Texas - One area banking chain is adding to it's wealth.

Locally owned Happy State Bank announced today they will be expanding to two more panhandle communities by buying First Canadian Bancorp, which owns First National Bank of Canadian.

Those branches are in Canadian, Higgins, and Canyon.

President and CEO J. Pat Hickman says it's important for the bank to expand across the entire panhandle.

"The First National Bank of Canadian is a strong, strong bank it's just a great opportunity for us to move into a strong market that we're not in now," he said.

The purchase will transfer more than $140 million in loans and deposits to Happy State Bank.

The bank already has twenty offices in twelve panhandle communities.
