House Fire in Amarillo

Amarillo, TX- Firefighters are crediting a homeowner closing the door to a fire as the reason it did not spread and cause more damage and injuries.

The home in the 4000 block of Tucson went up in flames around 8:30 Sunday morning and kept crews busy for three hours.

The fire was on the first floor and crews say if the owner had not shut the door, it could have spread to the other rooms in the home.

Firefighters estimate a $20 thousand cost in damage.

The cause is under investigation.
