AUSTIN, Texas (AP) - Health and business groups are urging Texas employers to offer help to workers who want to stop smoking.
The groups, including the Texas Association of Business, launched the "Call for Coverage and Treatment" campaign Thursday. They want to increase the number of workers with smoking cessation coverage to 100,000 within the next year.
The campaign is asking businesses to offer support such as counseling and prescription treatments.
Supporters say smoking cessation programs are an investment with returns of higher productivity and lower health care costs.
