Xcel requests charge to pay for new transmission lines

Amarillo, Texas - You could soon see a slight increase on your electricity bill to help pay for Xcel's newest transmission lines.

The new lines are in Xcel Energy's service area, including a major project in the Dalhart-Channing area.

If the request is approved, customers would see a 92 cent more per 1,000 kilowatt-hour, or 1% more per month.

Xcel says the fee would help the company recover new transmission line costs more quickly.
