Railroad overpass in Dumas breaks ground

By Sarah Seeley

Dumas, Texas - Thirty new jobs are expected for construction on part of the Ports-to-Plains route from Mexico to Canada.

The new US 87 railroad overpass in Dumas broke ground today.

TXDOT Executive Director Amadeo Saenz traveled up from Austin to host the ceremony for the $16 million project funded by stimulus money.

Officials say the overpass will help clear up traffic congestion in Dumas and give emergency workers total access to the area west of the BNSF tracks.
