A large portion of the elderly still lack access to area transportation, despite several taxpayer and charity services that are supposed to solve the problem.
There are a few groups now aiming to help those who can't drive.
There's the city buses, but many elderly can't walk to the stop near their house.
Then's theres also some door to door services, but most of those focus on medical appointments only.
Also, those groups have waiting lists-anywhere from 3 to 7 days out.
So if your doctor called about important test results and asked you to come in the next day, transportation would be hard to find.
