Stimulus Money Helps Two Panhandle Highways

Two panhandle highways will get new asphalt thanks to an additional round of funding coming from the Federal Stimulus Act.

Starting in the next few weeks, I-27 in both directions will be repaved from 45th street to the Potter County line.

The project is expected to cost about $1.5 million.

And 13 miles of US 87 south of Dalhart will be repaved.

The $3.8 million project was awarded to an Amarillo contractor.

It's expected that nearly three thousand jobs will be created state wide from this round of funding
