The body of a local doctor killed in Iraq is back in Amarillo this evening.
Major matthew houseal's flag draped coffin arrived this morning at tac airfield.
Dr. Houseal's sister flew in to be with the family and was there as her brother's body arrived.
She says his first priority was his family.
"Matt was one of the most humble men that I knew and his most treasured gift was his family," said Corp. Anne Houseal, Matthew's sister.
She says Houseal will be remembered for the great family man that he was.
"I just have fond memories of my brother and I hold him in high esteem," she said. "He will be greatly missed, he will be great missed."
A memorial service is also planned for Dr. Houseal on Tuesday morning at 10 A.M. at Saint Anne's Catholic Church in Canyon.
Major Houseal was serving in a medical company in Iraq when he was shot dead by a soldier earlier this week.
That soldier also killed four others.
Dr. Houseal leaves behind his wife and seven children.
His family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in an education trust for his young children.
