Lubbock woman guilty of child injury, endangerment

LUBBOCK, Texas (AP) - A 28-year-old pregnant mother of 9 has been convicted today in Lubbock of child injury and child endangerment charges.

Now comes the penalty phase for Gloria Ramirez.

She was arrested in 2007 after authorities found a dead fetus stored in the refrigerator of her trash-strewn home.

Jurors deliberated about half-an hour before finding Ramirez guilty of 1 count of injury to a child and six counts of child endangerment.

Anthony Moya, who's father to 6 of the children, will be tried later on the same charges as Ramirez.

Prosecutor Jennifer Bassett called the home "a house of horrors" where nothing was done to care for the children.

Defense attorney Ted Hogan says Ramirez was scared of Moya and didn't confront him about not helping with the children and cleaning.
