AMARILLO, Texas (AP) - Karl Rove, the top political adviser for former President George W. Bush, is speaking at two university graduation exercises in West Texas this weekend.
West Texas A&M University says the former deputy chief of staff will speak at their commencement convocation Friday night - the day before their multiple diploma-awarding ceremonies in Canyon.
On Saturday, Rove is slated to give the commencement address at the Texas Tech University School of Law graduation ceremony in Lubbock.
The universities report Rove has waived his speaking fees.
Rove is considered the architect of Bush's 2000 and 2004 campaigns. The local Democratic Party is planning to protest his selection as speaker in Canyon.
