Local landowners applaud potential eminent domain restrictions

A bill that has passed the Texas Senate unanimously would prohibit the condemnation of land for private use and also allows a property owner to repurchase a property if nothing's been done after a taking after ten years.

The bill must now pass the House.

Governor Rick Perry has previously vetoed such legislation but is expected to support this version.

The Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association says landowners don't have enough protections under the current law.
